Description: Kids love these. Quick to prepare, & easy to substitute

  • 3/4 cup (180mL) unbleached flour
  • 3/4 cup (180mL) whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups (480mL) rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 (360mL) walnuts
  • 2 tsp (10mL) baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1.2mL) salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp (7.5mL) cinnamon
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp (270mL) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups (360mL) brown sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

1 cup (240mL) raspberry jam

Pre-heat oven to 350F. Lightly grease a 10" x 15" baking sheet and set aside.

Place all ingredients, except the egg and raspberry jam, into a mixer or food processor. Mix thoroughly. Remove half of the mixture, and set aside. Blend the egg in the remaining micture, and press into the prepared baking sheet. Bake until firm and lightly browned (about 10 minutes).

Remove the crust from the oven and spread the jam evenly over the surface. Sprinkle the top with the remaining crumbly mixture. Bake 10 minutes until golden brown. Cool and cut into 15 bars.
